I've been playing this game since 2007 and I'm pretty sure of what I'm thinking after I made my Version 2, which got "clean" simply because a few pieces were removed. They ALL have the same issue, and it's all GMod 2's (the free mod) fault. Facepunch thought about banning me twice, however I was spared in the end (don't ask me why, they didn't answer my emails).Īt this point I have a theory, and I believe we'll find the answer in maps like gm_bigcity, rp_downtown_v2 and gm_construct 12 "beta". You already know a lot, so I'll skip the part where things started to explode and I kept forcing random updates just to see how far they would go. Of course this should be classified as a bug and I should have rolled back the version, but my rule for this project is that every time I find pieces of the original beta map they need to be added, so I went ahead and fixed the build. ![]() The problem was only visible to me after 3 updates (adding clip on stairs, fixing bad AI nodes, solving missing textures.), when the dark room started to spawn some cubic geometries with materials I wasn't using and cause a bunch of light leaks in the bsp. People randomly reported footsteps and shadows but obviously I didn't believe that. First of all, it didn't happen when i launched the map, the addon was just a rebuild of the beta.
